I was reading Black Jack again yesterday. Since the last time I read it, I was 6 or 7, I barely remember anything about him except that he's a doctor and he had black and white hair. I also remember a few vague things, like Pinoko and how he got the different coloured face, but overall my impression of him was pretty blurry.

So when I read it again, I definately didn't remember him being such a woobie. Good god, he's a woobie!

Anyway, it was pretty good, as usual, as all of Tezuka's stuff is. I was looking for fanart on Pixiv, and I kept seeing a character named Dr. K, who hasn't shown up yet, and for some reason I remember nothing about him. Well, waiting for him to show up...

I also started to read Dragon Eye, because I found the first volume in the library. I didn't expect it to be very good, because... honestly, it's mostly because the cover isn't very attractive. But I'm glad I read it, because it was actually very enjoyable. The art's nice (it's better on the inside, honestly), the story's decent, the action's good, and I like the main character. Overall it was fun to read.

...Downloading the next 6 volumes now.

Man I'm sleepy!

Since HoneySyn is coming to a close soon (I don't know exactly how soon), I thought about starting another unambitious webcomic about an ex-private-eye. Unambitious being the key word.

I've been a big fan of Akimi Yoshida lately. I can't really say that her comics are the best I've ever read, but the stories she draws are always pretty engrossing, the storytelling is good, the characters are more or less likable. Although I must say: the lady isn't capable of drawing any story where less than 75% of the cast doesn't die.

As for the art, I actually liked the style in the beginning of Banana Fish the most. It was tighter and more detailed, and the flow was clearer, if that makes any sense. Schumie says I'm partial to the old-school style, but I really thought that the artwork had aged better than say, Yasha, which was drawn a few years afterwards. By the time Yasha rolled around, it seemed to have gone back to the style of Lover's Kiss, and her artwork had gotten looser, although not necessarily in a good way. The paneling had also become a bit more typical shoujo, being a bit less structured, more freeform and to a certain degree, more expressive. However, I liked the artwork in BF right from the get-go, and Yasha... well, I wouldn't have picked it up if it wasn't drawn by Akimi Yoshida.

I'm glad I did though, because the story's pretty good (the project was being scanlated by Shoujo Magic, but unfortunately they've dropped it due to "lack of interest"). But the scans that I'm reading lets me experience in full the woes of the language barrier (I can understand the 50% of the plot that's not in Simplified Chinese) and horrible typesetting (the page on the left: how the fuck did that sentence miss its intended target by 2 inches?).

After finishing Banana Fish and Kisso Tenyo, I had more or less stopped expecting any real slash in the stories, so imagine my surprise when there were prominent characters who were a canon gay couple! The story itself also hits pretty much every fetish in the book (except for the naked apron), including but not limited to:

1. Twincest. They have a love/hate/love/hate?/love/hate/love/?/are-you-me-or-am-I-you relationship.
2. Subservience. Twice. One's a bodyguard, one's a servant/best friend/lover.
3. Bromance. The bodyguards.
4. Childhood friends. The type who can tell if the protagonist is thinking about sacrificing himself and tell him to "snap out of it".

Overall it's pretty fun to read, but as it's written by Akimi Yoshida, I'm expecting at least one of the twins, one of the bodyguards, and two of the three childhood friends to die before the series is over.

*shakes fist, Colbert-style* YOSHIIIIDDAAAAAAA..!!

I conclude my rant with Rin/Takeru fanart, because I liked them the most.

I've been feeling a bit uninspired lately. I'm not sure if it's the stress of school weighing down on me, or if it's just the weather. If it's the weather, I hope the weather goddamn changes soon.

The other day, I was watching my sister play Innocent Sin, and she got to that one bit in the Sky Museum where Tatsuya has to catch Maya, and his Persona comes out for a few moments. I thought it was Apollo's hand, so I thought it strange since the persona he had wasn't Apollo.
So I said this:

"Is his stand Apollo?"

My sister stared at me.

I probably should've posted this before the other one, since the scene is technically before it. Well... Oh well. :/

It's unfortunate, because I'm required to spend at least one afternoon a week learning how to use the despicable program. Today I gave up half-way through the lesson (my button wouldn't make a sound that went "whoop".) and spent the rest of the time doodling instead.

Anyway.

This was not what I drew, but it's close.

I started out drawing a group pic of All The Characters in Jojo who have Half a Brain, but it eventually turned into Orgy of All My Favorite Characters. So I went along with that.

It's Thanksgiving today, here in the Great Soviet Canuckastan.
Or perhaps it's tomorrow. I can't really remember, but it should be within these two days, and the only reason I know that much is because I happen to have a day off from school tomorrow.

In any case, I haven't been doing much the past few days except for a whole lot of nothing. School has been catching up to me, but I'm glad that my Applied Design teacher finally approved my logo concept. That class has seriously been hell for me, because he always rejected every single idea I had.

It was probably also hell for my friends too, as I whined at them non-stop about it. Well, it's all over now! Until the next project.

But I digress.

Here's a poster that panda_ne commissioned me to do for a party she's in charge of, because who she originally wanted to ask wasn't available, and I can whip up a poster in two days.

And some CG practice. I would give my left arm to draw like Jon Foster. I would give my right arm too, actually, provided I can draw like Jon Foster using my left arm. Or my foot, even.

Been revamping some (most) of the Megiddo characters, because I realized that in trying to be realistic, all the designs turned out rather (really) boring. It's not really just a problem of being boring, but that I doubt anyone aside from me will be able to tell one character from the other as they all look the same.

Wilst was one of the characters that got revamped, and I was just practicing CG with him.

This is the first time I've ever filled out an art meme. I usually don't try to approach them as I figured that I'd be way too lazy to actually finish filling them. Or that there are certain questions that I don't feel like doing. This meme was pretty fun all the way though though, although I was somewhat surprised that I managed to finish it... seeing how lazy I am.

I also spent a riveting afternoon learning how to program forms in Dreamweaver; my heart quickens with the mention of such an exciting day. So of course, I spent all the time in between paying attention randomly clicking the screen in a futile effort to escape the (bath) room. It didn't work out too well, I got stuck pretty quickly.

ETA: I finished reading Stone Ocean. Wow, most depressing ending in the world. Also, FF wasn't in that last scene. WTF?

I feel kind of dead. As in, the type where you just feel no energy all day long, and want to sleep the entire day away, but you drag yourself out of bed to go to school, act like a zombie through the entire day, and come home to pass out on the floor. Not to mention unmotivated. Just a little.

I think I could really use a coffee.
