YAY.
I passed my class 5 road test.

Rejoice!

In celebration, I bought myself a sketchbook, a tub thing of varnish and 4 magazines. Came to... more money that I should've spent (plus the money I spent on the lisence) but hey! I was happy!

Then I spent most of the day yesterday drawing Johnny.
A bit of today too, although I would've finished earlier if I hadn't gotten lost trying to get home from Staples.




I was still trying to do that new colouring style. Tell me if I succeeded please?

It was unintentional, but the result turned out a lot more art-nouveau-esque than I anticipated. Then again, I'm not too sure what I was going for in the first place.

So when I was drawing this, I was thinking about putting in flowers, then thought that it might be too femme (aka: GAY). But then I thought of this picture, and thought, "nothing I draw can possibly out-gay that picture." So I went ahead an drew flowers.

Anyway, I do realize his hand is... pretty big (cancer), but I really don't... want to fix it...

Hurray for passing driving tests! I have no idea what Class 5 means, but I'm going to assume it's something pretty awesome.

And I definitely like the coloring style. *___* But I'm kind of a sucker for Art Nouveau to begin with. The light colors and outlining remind me of Mucha and Crane, in particular.

In the great soviet canukastan, you have to take a driving test in which you get a fat N sign (and lots of limitations on driving) to put on your car, and in like... 2 or 3 years you have to take another test to get rid of the N, and that's the class 5 test.

I guess they thought that whippersnapper teenagers just drive too fast. :/
BUT NOW I CAN DRIVE AS MANY PEOPLE AS I WANT.

Hurray! There is something similar where I live, but the system is ... not very well-designed, IMO (trufax: I beat the system, lulz). :\ Yours sounds a lot better.

Well, there's three stages of basic driving licenses in the wonderful state of Washington. The first stage is the learner's permit, which you can obtain when you're 15 and allows you to drive with someone who is a licensed driver over 18.

The second stage comes at age 16, which is when you can take the driver's test and obtain an intermediate license. The intermediate license allows you to drive without supervision, but you can't have more than 3 people (I think?) in the car with you when you're driving, and you can't drive later than 10 or 11 PM.

Finally, when you hit 18, your intermediate license gets automatically upgraded to a full-blown driver license, with no passenger or curfew restrictions. And this is where the loophole is.

The system assumes that all people are going to learn how to drive starting at age 15 or 16. Well, due to various issues, I was unable to learn how to drive until age 18. I went to driving school (which is optional, but doing so makes your auto insurance cheaper. :D), passed the test, etc. but because I was already 18, I skipped the intermediate step and automatically got my adult license.

While it's cool that I automatically had no restrictions, in hindsight it probably would have been better if I had. I'm still relatively new to driving (and I don't drive that often to begin with), and I will freely admit that I'm not great at it. So to give me an adult license right after I had gone through driving school and BARELY passed the test doesn't really make sense. I think it would be better if they upgraded the system from depending on age to depending on years of driving experience.

Hahaha, yeah that might work better, but I think for the most part, the concern here is that (well here if you have your N you're only allowed to drive 1 other person) teenagers are stupid, and in big groups their friends will do things like yell "GO FASTER" and then they'd get all stupid and go really fast and get into accidents. So it's mostly a restriction so that teenagers will stop being stupid and do street racing or whatever.
I think that once you're over 18, you kinda start calming down (unless you don't, I guess) so it doesn't matter too much...
It's good that you get automatically upgraded though, it sucks to take 2 tests. :(

Araki is indeed the king of provocative, curly poses and costuming. I still can't get over the fact that Johnny has blue lipstick. The style's really nice but the colours are too soft for my personally liking

In any case, I was just trying something new, although I'm quite fond of this style so I might do more of it.

Yeah, I was playing Jump Ultimate Stars a couple of months ago and realised how fabulous all the characters looked XD As much as I love Gyro, his teeth give me the chills

I really like the pale yellowed-paper-over-time look. The way the colors blend is pretty nice, especially how his hair from blond proceeds into the green in the background. If anything, I love how this coloring style just really really brings life to his eyes.

Hahaha, oh yeah. NOTHING can out-gay that picture. Plus, splurging on ourselves = best medicine for anything.
