Still reading SBR
14 volumes of text-heavy fabulous posing takes longer to get through than I thought.
Especially when I keep stopping to draw fanart. Which may or may not be a good thing, I guess...

Is it just me, or is Johnny really really MOE?
It feels to me... kind of, that he's made even more moe by the fact that he can't walk. I don't know if this makes me a horrible person or not.

Also: I like it when he cries hur hur hur hur hur.

If it does, I must be terrible too. Your art makes this series seem terribly interesting and I do believe I should try to read it myself.

xD I think the art is amazing and pretty? (Too manly for people maybe but. apparently not for CLAMP. CLAMP made doujinshi of the third arc and that's still burned into my brain sob) Mostly I've found it's just that the length of the series seems to scare people away before they even start. Since Jojo as a series is like... gods, are they at 100some volumes now? (But they're separated into arcs! And you don't even need to read the first two! Probably. English licensing started on the third arc anyway. Protagonists change every arc!)

I'd recommend the fifth arc too. Fourth arc was Araki changing his artstyle towards the more pretty, so by fifth arc, it was pretty settled. Fifth arc is also fairly standalone, too. ...It's also like mafia boyband extravaganza. xD

l-loev Jojo. |D;

Yeah, I think that length might have had to do with it... I've only read SBR myself, but I kinda want to read some other arcs. They're pretty stand alone, right? Which do you recommend?

Mmm, well, okay, as much as I love Dio Brando and Jonathan Joestar (whom Johnny is the AU version of) and Speedwagon and William Zeppeli (EPIC GAR), first arc is really skippable. All you need to get from that is that Dio is a kind of 2D villain who wants power and is also a vampire. Second arc you get AMAZING CHARACTERS like Joseph Joestar and Caesar Zeppeli (yeah, the Zeppeli family all are. kind of tragic in their fates)... also skippable though. Third arc is pretty crucial! Introduces stands, sets up the whole thing with Dio's coming back. Fourth arc is standalone and can be skipped. You get the whole arrow thing and upgrading stands thing in this arc too, but it'd probably be easy to pick up anyway. Fifth arc is also standalone except for one character at the end who plays a central role in the third. And sixth is also sorta standalone.

I'd say third, fifth, and sixth then. Sixth you should definitely read if only for AWESOME FEMALE JOJO. |Db

Yeah, I wonder why. :( :(
I mean they're so FABULOUS. And GAY. I thought girls would be all over this shit. I guess I could drag a few people into the fandom, but not enough to make a difference.

Hmm... I don't even know the basics, I just started reading SBR because I heard that it was stand-alone and unrelated to the rest of the story. :/ I guess it's a good place to dive into, although I don't know about the rest of it either.

No, he's moe. Super moe... and your art makes him even more moe and not in a bad way (as opposed to CLAMP's venture into Jojo fandom...) but I'm still hung on Dio...

probably for forever XD ...I should go out and actually buy the volumes but I'm so, so broke... which means I'm very behind in the story

I have a copy of the raw on my cpu that I can send if you ever want to have a look... let's just say... mpreg characters that hatch out of eggs aren't my thing... nor are characters who are meant to be blind and dead but come back alive suddenly...

Dio's an asshole in all versions... but he's made of awesome

I'd like to have a look, just because the curiosity is getting the better of me. I'm not sure I'll have any idea what's going on since I never read the third arc of Jojo though. :/

And I also think that Dio is unreasonably cute when he's acting like a dinosaur. X)

(Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

[info]nataku_kun
2008-04-30 09:28 am UTC (link)
Alrighty, I'll have a look for it then XD. Don't worry, the plot of the doujin has nothing to do with the manga itself (2nd part of doujin involves a character from the fourth arc too but that doesn't make sense since Kakyoin's meant to be blind and dead by that stage). It's just... the existance of such a thing is blasphemy against the nature of shounen manga... (there's also a sonic part in there that's a bit "no comment")

...>_> not up to there yet and desparately yearning for it
